Automated Bidding
Intercity Auction automatic bidding system makes bidding convenient so you don't have to keep coming back to re-bid every time someone places another bid.
How does Automated Bidding work?
Automated bidding places bids on your behalf at the lowest possible increments. Simply enter the maximum bid that you are willing to place, click 'Place Bid'.
Only you will ever know what your maximum bid is, everyone else will only be able to see the current bid price.
The goal of our automated bidding system is to win you the auction for the lowest possible price. Your maximum bid is only placed when another bidder also bids up to that amount or when the reserve price is equal to or greater than your maximum bid.
-
Example 1:
-
The starting bid for a car is £3000, and the bid increment is £25.
John chooses to enter an automatic bid of a maximum £4000, so John becomes the high bidder and the current bid changes to £3025.
-
Example 2:
-
The starting bid for a car is £3000, and the bid increment is £25.
John chooses to enter an automatic bid of a maximum £4000, so John becomes the high bidder at £3025. Then Sue enters her maximum bid of £3500.
The current bid is now £3525 since John as a higher maximum bid.
-
Example 3:
-
The current bid is now £3525 with John having set his maximum bid of £4000.
Sue now places a new maximum bid of £4000.
The current bid now changes to £4000 as this is the maximum bid which anyone has placed. John is still the current highest bidder as he was the first to set the maximum bid of £4000.
In reserve price auctions, if your maximum bid is at least the reserve price, we’ll automatically increase your bid to meet the reserve, and bidding will continue from there.
