How it Works

Welcome to our new Online Auction. Getting started is easy.

Step 1 - Registration

To begin bidding online, you need to register. Complete all the required fields, and as many of the other fields as this will help to speed up your application.

Step 2 - Authorisation

Once we’ve authorised your application, we’ll text your username and password. This lets you log into the site and start bidding. These details will be unique to you so please keep them safe.

Step 3 - Stock

You can view the auction catalogue anytime on our Online Bidding page. This will build in the run-up to the start of the sale, so it’s worth keeping an eye on it. You can also subscribe to our Catalogue by email service. This way you’ll always get the catalogue delivered by straight to your inbox before the sale starts.

Step 4 - Stock details

Simply click on an individual car within the stock list and you’ll see full details of the car. Along with description, you’ll see an accurate appraisal/inspection report, with multiple photos. This way you can be assured you know what you’re buying. And with CAP and Glass’s values, there’s no need to waste valuable time ‘booking’ cars.

Step 5 - Bidding

In order to bid, just log into the site using the details we supplied you on authorisation. Click the button to go and login now.

Incremental Bidding

Everyone wants to win, but only at the right price. With TimedBid, as the listing proceeds, we compare your bid to those of other bidders. When you’re outbid, we automatically bid on your behalf up to the maximum bid you have entered. Your bid is increased by increments only as much as necessary to maintain your high bid position.

Click on the from within the Timed Auction page, or your Watchlist in order to start your bidding.

Automated Bidding

Please refer to Automated bidding which explains in greater detail.

Step 6 - Watchlist

Items which you are currently bidding on will automatically appear in your own personal Watchlist. This allows you to easily monitor the cars you are interested in.

If you’re interested in a car, but not ready to bid on it, then you can click the 'Add To Watch List' button as shown in the image above. And, if you’re selling any vehicles, these will automatically appear here so you can track their progress.

Watchlist Hard Bidding

Items within your Wishlist will follow the same Automated bidding rules, however you now have the additional option of a 'Hard Bid'.

Select an increment from the drop down list, and then click the bid button. This will increase your bid by the amount that you have selected.

If you would like to start a new automatic bid, click on the from within the list of lots.

You can also keep track of your maximum bids on your Watchlist.

Step 7 - Extra-time

Don’t get pipped at the post. Unlike some online auctions, Intercity TimedBid ensures you won’t lose out to a rival bidder sneaking in a bid seconds before the sale ends. With Extra-Time, if you’ve been outbid at the end of the auction, you’ll have 2 minutes to make a counter-bid. The other bidder in turn will then have a further 2 minutes to increase their bid.

This way, we create a virtual auctioneer...going...going...sold!

Step 8 - Charges

Our Buyer charges are straight-forward, you pay £100 in addition to each vehicle’s hammer price. This indemnifies your purchases in the usual way; giving you clear title and ensuring that any vehicle you buy has:

• No Outstanding Finance
• Not been Stolen
• Not been Stolen & Recovered *
• Not been Written-Off *

*Unless described as such by the Auctioneer and/or in vehicle description

At the end of the auction, we’ll email you a summary detailing the total payable.

Step 9 - Payment

We’ll send you a summary email at the end of the auction detailing the vehicles you’ve purchased and the total payable. We require payment within 48 hours of the sale end. The best way to do this is by bank transfer. You’ll find our bank account details in your email summary.

Step 10 - Delivery

We’ve saved you the time, hassle and cost of travelling so it makes sense that we take care of the transport too! We provide competitive rates to anywhere in the UK. Rates vary depending on location and quantity, so contact us by email michelle@intercitymotorauctions.co.uk
