Buy a Car with Intercity Motor Auctions
Whether you’re an auction expert or haven’t done it before, we’ve put together some FAQ’s and general advice.
Q: What kind of cars can I expect?
A: A great selection! We’ve hundreds of cars on offer in every sale, from £100 to £100,000. Lots of them are direct from Main Agents like Arnold Clark, private individuals, trade, fleets and PLC’s.
Q: What happens when I bid for a car?
A: If you’re the highest bidder you need to pay a deposit. This is £300 (unless the car’s cheaper, of course!) So simply come forward to our clerk, who’ll take some details along with your deposit.
Q: How do I pay?
A: We like debit cards. It a safe, secure way for you to pay. We accept credit cards too, but these are more expensive to process, which means we have to pass this charge on in the form of a 3% surcharge.
We also accept Cash, Banker’s Drafts and Certified Building Society Cheques.
Q: What about insurance?
A: We've teamed up with Norwich Union who offer 7 days FREE insurance cover when you buy a car from Intercity Auctions, subject to Insurer's terms and conditions. The cover note produced lets you tax your new car, allowing you to drive away the same day! You'll find details of their application process in reception.

We check every vehicle we sell and indemnify your purchase.
Using HPI, we ensure your new car has no outstanding finance, is not recorded as stolen, or has previously been written-off. HPI's used car check also confirms many other details, including the make, model, colour, door plan, and engine size. Our data checks that these match the descriptions recorded against the vehicle at the time of manufacture.
So unlike buying privately from an individual you have our money-back guarantee that the vehicle you buy has:
